At approximately 6:00 PM BST, a grey Ford Galaxy entered Water Street—closed to traffic for the parade—and accelerated into the crowd. Eyewitnesses reported the vehicle striking and dragging several individuals before coming to a halt. As bystanders attempted to confront the driver, the vehicle accelerated again, causing further injuries. Emergency services responded swiftly, treating 20 people at the scene and transporting 27 to local hospitals. Four individuals remain in critical condition.

Suspect Apprehended

Merseyside Police arrested a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area at the scene. Authorities have stated that the incident appears to be isolated and not related to terrorism. The suspect's identity was promptly released to prevent misinformation and speculation.
